In the article "Voice Impersonators can fool speaker recognition systems" from the University Of Eastern Finland it was discovered that there is a vulnerability in speaker recognition systems which can pose very serious security concerns. The reason that this can lead to serious security concerns is that today since mobile devices are more equipped with functions that require voice commands their is a higher demand for more applications that rely on voice for authentication purposes or for public safety. The increase of this function can lead to the misuse of it such as voice impersonation by humans cannot be easily detected with the recognition system. To test the reliability of the system two professional voice impersonators were asked to sound both like a child and an elderly person to see if they are able to fool the system. The result of this was that they succeeded in being able to fool the system. I feel very strongly about the since most of my family use their voices to complete actions when using their phone this can effect them negatively.
