On March 12th me and my peers went to an elementary school PS120 where we had the opportunity to teach a children of different grade levels about money and how to handle it. For this occasion my group dressed nicely and formal as we were teachers that day and had to make a good impression on the teachers of the school but most importantly the children. Although we were prepared for that day that didn't stop use from being nervous on how everything would pan out and whether we would have a positive impact on the children. When we got to the school each group was taken to the classroom they would be teaching that day for my groups case we were teaching kindergartners. When taken to the classroom my group introduced itself and then we meet all the children, then we started to teach the lessons that we had planned out for the day. Lesson one was a basic lesson which would help us see what the children know about the topic of money. The came lesson 2 which was lead by me there we discussed different vocabulary words to the children as well as certain scenarios and how the children can make wise decisions involving money. After the first two lessons we then had our lunch break. After lunch we then got back into the classroom to continue our lessons. Lessons 3&4 were both completed before we left and the children received certificates to show for their learning experience. After we had left I felt like I wanted to go back to teach the students more about what they don't know and help them understand better. The trip also showed me how my speaking skills could improve even more and I should be more pressing on the students when teaching. But overall the experience was a great one that I can use to help me better myself in the future.
